The Essex Student Law Review (ESLR) was founded in 2019 by Yusuf Panah, a Law with Politics student during his second year.

The ESLR was set up with the help of Dr Mohammed AlShaleel and the first editorial board was created. The first contributors and editors of ESLR were Renee Palmer, Julia Kedziorek, Sekai Rodgers and Corinne Albina.

The first edition was published in 2020 and was circulated among all Law students at the university's law school. It was then published onto the ESLR website for all students to read.
